Our Mission Statement

Demonstrate the love of God by providing the Word of God, water wells, and wellness support to communities in Kenya. We seek to encourage people to trust Jesus Christ as their savior and to empower believers to live fulfilled lives.

What We Believe

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:4-6).

  • We believe in the deity of Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious and atoning death through his blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, in his present rule as Head of the Church and in his personal return in power and glory (John 1:1-4; Matthew 1:12; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

  • We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful men, repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ are the result of regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation (Titus 3:4-7; Luke 24:46-47; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Acts 4:12).

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life (Galatians 5:16-18; Romans 8:9).

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment (Revelation 20:11-15; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57).

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of his body, the Church, with equality across race, gender, and class (Ephesians 1:22-23; Corinthians 12:12,27).

  • We believe that the ministry of evangelism is a responsibility of both the church and each Christian (Romans 10:9-15; Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Peter 3:15).

Arnie Newman - LIO Board Member

Arnold has been a missionary in Africa since 1956. I went to Kenya East Africa with AIM (Africa Inland Mission) in 1956 where we established a new mission station among the Maasai tribe.  In 1965 I was loaned to MAF as East Africa director and pilot/mechanic.  In 1975 I founded AIM-AIR, the air wing of AIM operating in East and Central Africa.

In 1985 I joined PRM (Portable Recording Ministries) in Nairobi, Kenya to record the Bible in language groups throughout Africa. I have been married to my wife, Marilyn for 56 years where we have served together in Africa.  We have two daughters and three adopted Kenyan children.  We praise the Lord that He called us to serve Him and to be apart of LIO in spreading the Gospel in Africa and around the world.

Sango Otieno - Executive Director

Sango teachers Statistics in the Department of Statistics at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. He was born and raised in Sijoa, a small village in Busia County of Western Kenya. Though his parents could neither read nor write, they valued education, and any earnings from farming their livestock and food crops went toward educating their children - education they never had themselves. He is married to Karen and they have three children.Though they now live in the United States, Sango hasn’t forgotten the tiny village nearly 8,000 miles away and understands that God has called him to faithfully proclaim the truth of Scripture in conjunction with being a living testimony of a life that has been changed by that Truth.

Heather Moreno - LIO Board Member

Heather is passionate about making sure EVERYONE has an opportunity to know the great love of the One True King, Creator, and Savior, whether that means homeschooling her 4 kids from birth to adulthood, teaching Sunday school and Children's Church in West Michigan, or teaching from the Wordless Book in Kenya.  Whether that means serving God's people in the wider world by bringing Bibles and Sunday school supplies to Kenya, or serving her community at home Salvation Army's Grand Haven Utilities Caseworker.  She thinks EVERYONE ought to have clean water for their bodies and Living Water for their souls, and is glad of the opportunity to join Love Inspired Outreach in their ongoing mission to bring the Word, Water, and Wellness to the World.
