Our Mission Statement

Demonstrate the love of God by providing resources to support Christian evangelism, education, health care, clean water, food and income generation to remote and impoverished communities around the world. We seek to encourage people to trust Jesus Christ as their personal savior and to empower believers to live fulfilled lives.

What We Believe

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; Ephesians 4:4-6).

  • We believe in the deity of Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious and atoning death through his blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, in his present rule as Head of the Church and in his personal return in power and glory (John 1:1-4; Matthew 1:12; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

  • We believe that, for the salvation of lost and sinful men, repentance from sin and faith in Jesus Christ are the result of regeneration by the Holy Spirit and that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation (Titus 3:4-7; Luke 24:46-47; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Acts 4:12).

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit whose indwelling enables the Christian to live a godly life (Galatians 5:16-18; Romans 8:9).

  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto the resurrection of eternal life and the lost unto the resurrection of damnation and eternal punishment (Revelation 20:11-15; 1 Corinthians 15:51-57).

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all true believers are members of his body, the Church, with equality across race, gender, and class (Ephesians 1:22-23; Corinthians 12:12,27).

  • We believe that the ministry of evangelism is a responsibility of both the church and each Christian (Romans 10:9-15; Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Peter 3:15).

Board Members

William Bartels - Chairman

Understanding that his main purpose is to be an Ambassador for God's unshakeable Kingdom, Bill strives to serve his Lord, Jesus Christ, wherever He calls. That call includes being a devoted husband to his wonderful wife, Kathy, and a loving father to their three spectacular children. Bill currently serves a local church as Pastor Kathy's husband, as well as an elder, teacher, and middle school youth leader. Vocationally, Bill's calling has been to work in Michigan courts for over 27 years.

Following Kathy's travelling with Love Inspired Outreach to teach local Kenyan pastor's and lay leaders in July 2013, the positive impacts that LIO has in meeting people's spiritual and physical needs has excited Bill and his entire family to embrace LIO. Bill is excited that God's present call includes using his talents to serve Christ through Love Inspired Outreach.

Arnie Newman - LIO Board Member

Arnold has been a missionary in Africa since 1956. I went to Kenya East Africa with AIM (Africa Inland Mission) in 1956 where we established a new mission station among the Maasai tribe.  In 1965 I was loaned to MAF as East Africa director and pilot/mechanic.  In 1975 I founded AIM-AIR, the air wing of AIM operating in East and Central Africa.

In 1985 I joined PRM (Portable Recording Ministries) in Nairobi, Kenya to record the Bible in language groups throughout Africa. I have been married to my wife, Marilyn for 56 years where we have served together in Africa.  We have two daughters and three adopted Kenyan children.  We praise the Lord that He called us to serve Him and to be apart of LIO in spreading the Gospel in Africa and around the world.

Sango Otieno - Executive Director

Sango teachers Statistics in the Department of Statistics at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. He was born and raised in Sijoa, a small village in Busia County of Western Kenya. Though his parents could neither read nor write, they valued education, and any earnings from farming their livestock and food crops went toward educating their children - education they never had themselves. He is married to Karen and they have three children.Though they now live in the United States, Sango hasn’t forgotten the tiny village nearly 8,000 miles away and understands that God has called him to faithfully proclaim the truth of Scripture in conjunction with being a living testimony of a life that has been changed by that Truth.

Marty Tidball  - Secretary

Marty has been a sales and marketing professional for 33 years and currently works for Endries International. Marty traveled to remote western Kenya in 2012 as part of LIO's Sigulu project management team . He was deeply touched by how friendly, engaging, and hard working he found the people of Kenya. Marty was able to see the positive impacts of providing clean water to remote communities in Jesus' name, and how that gift can open peoples hearts to hear the story of Jesus. He personally witnessed over 2,000 Kenyan's accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior after viewing "The Jesus Film" in Swahili. Marty has been on the board of directors since the inception of LIO in 2011 and he feels privileged to be a part of a professionally managed, volunteer non-profit organization, where 97% of donated funds go directly to field projects.
